Australia's women's team lose Ellyse Perry and Kim Garth to injuries for first ODI against India in Brisbane

Australian stars Ellyse Perry and Kim Garth have both been ruled out of the entire One Day International (ODI) series against world champions India.

Both suffered quad strains in the T20 loss to India on Saturday.

Their places in the squad have been taken by fast bowlers Megan Schutt and Lucy Hamilton.

Schutt was named in the side for today's opening ODI clash of the series at Allan Border Field, where India won the toss and elected to bat.

Cricket Australia released a statement about Perry and Garth's return ahead of the one-off Test at the end of the ODI series.

"Their availability for Test match will be further assessed at the end of the ODI series pending on how they progress with rehab," the statement said.

Returning skipper Alyssa Healy will not wicketkeep in the series with Beth Mooney taking the gloves.
