English rugby union's top-tier Premiership Women's Rugby (PWR) competition has extended its commercial partnership with the Canterbury sportswear brand in a two-season deal.Canterbury, well known for its prominent rugby presence, is once again set to provide every player from the nine PWR teams with boots as well as a piece of kit.The original tie-up between the two parties was unveiled last December, and this new agreement will run through 2026-27. Canterbury becomes the first brand to renew a PWR commercial agreement.Canterbury will provide over 450 players from PWR with boots during the 2025-26 season, which began on October 24.The original deal between PWR and Canterbury also included Frasers Group (which owns the Sports Direct chain) working with the two parties to promote the league and grow its fanbase.Canterbury is one of the most prominent rugby equipment brands and currently boasts tie-ups with the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) governing body and the British and Irish Lions touring organization.This month has already seen heavyweight insurance brand Gallagher expand its already-significant presence in English rugby union by striking a sponsorship deal covering PWR.Through a three-year tie-up, Gallagher becomes the league's official insurance partner.This agreement adds to Gallagher's existing title sponsorship of the men's English Premiership, through an agreement also set to run until the end of the 2027-28 season.Launched in June 2023, rebranded from Premier 15s, PWR was established to deliver a 10-year strategy for women’s rugby in England through a partnership between the Rugby Football Union and the 10 clubs participating in the PWR competition and the Allianz Cup.
