It's time for Liverpool to pull the trigger on Slot and bring in their former midfielder, Xabi Alonso.

Considering the Merseyside club lifted the Premier League title last season, it's been an unacceptable campaign from Slot and his team, and although he has credit in the bank, Liverpool can't afford to be missing out on Champions League football.

According to reports in Spain, Liverpool have made contact with Alonso already in 2026, and it's claimed he would be welcomed back at Anfield by the club's hierarchy.

Alonso, described as 'elite', is currently a free agent after he left Real Madrid late last year. With Liverpool already making contact with the Spanish manager and Alonso being available right now, Liverpool need to make the decision to bring him to Anfield before it's too late.

Of course, results will be the most important thing for Liverpool supporters, but bringing Alonso back to Anfield would be an instant hit. The former Real Madrid boss enjoyed a phenomenal spell with the Merseyside club as a player, while he also has the managerial credentials to justify his appointment.

The Liverpool supporters must be getting frustrated with some of the performances they are producing under Slot, but appointing Alonso would bring back a feel-good factor to the club.

Failing to qualify for the Champions League would be a huge disaster for a club like Liverpool, so FSG must be considering making a change in the dugout pretty soon.
