UP Sinag captured the championship of the 7th Pinay In Action (PIA) Cup women’s football tournament after defeating UP Alon, 3-0, in the finals at the Gov. Mariano Perdices Memorial Coliseum in Dumaguete City on Feb. 15, 2026.UP Alon finished runner-up while Futboleras FC took claimed third place.The three-day women’s 9v9 football tournament featured 20 teams from across the country.The event was organized by Pinay In Action, the advocacy arm of Senator Pia Cayetano, in partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission, the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental, Negros Oriental State University, and the Negros Oriental–Siquijor Regional Football Association.This was the fourth time the PIA Cup was held in Dumaguete, following editions in 2018, 2020, and 2024.Individual awards recognized standout performances on the field. Julian Arrojado of UP Sinag was named Best Goalkeeper, Florence Ycong of UP Sinag received Best Defender, Kylle Franklyn Moreno of UP Alon earned Best Midfielder, Aurea Collenn Reaso of UP Alon was Best Striker, and Hannah Marie Muros of UP Sinag was Most Valuable Player.The Pamplona de Pontevedra Football Club received the Fair Play Award.Officials present for the ceremony included Elizabeth Agulan of Philsports, match commissioner Andro Cedrome, and Team PIA representative Lance Felo.UP Women’s Football Team coach Anto Gonzales said the PIA Cup gives young female football players critical competitive experience.“Senator Pia Cayetano’s support has been instrumental in giving our players more opportunities to compete and grow,” Gonzales said.“This tournament provides crucial exposure and experience for young women in football. It’s events like the PIA Cup that help elevate the game and inspire the next generation of athletes,” he added.The competition continues to serve as a key platform for developing women’s football in the Philippines, offering both competition and recognition for young athletes nationwide.
