NRL live updates: Canberra Raiders vs Newcastle Knights, Canterbury Bulldogs vs Manly Sea Eagles

Round 21 of the NRL season continues on Sunday with Canberra hosting Newcastle in the first of two matches this afternoon.

The Raiders will be looking to secure their grip on the top spot, while the Knights will try to pull off an upset despite missing a host of stars due to injury.

Later, Canterbury will take on Manly at the Sydney Football Stadium in a match that commemorates 30 years since the two sides met in the 1995 grand final.

Key Events Halftime: Raiders 18 level with Knights 18 28 minutes ago 47' Starling scores to put Canberra back in front N By Nick Campton Fogarty kicks it over to Savage, he takes it and offloads it back to Fogarty, Canberra throw it around until Starling knifes through and scores! We go upstairs, bit to check - the pass from Savage is cleared, now we look to obstruction later in the play but that's cleared as well. It's a try to Starling and Canberra are back in front, it's 24-18 after Fogarty converts. Second half is underway N By Nick Campton And we're halfway home! Canberra kick us off to start the second half. Halftime: Raiders 18 level with Knights 18 N By Nick Campton Canberra run it on the last down their right and get Savage into some space and he scampers over in the corner right on halftime! Fogarty has the chance to put the Raiders up six, given the wind it's a very difficult kick - he's having trouble keeping the ball on the tee cause of the wind. But he nails it! Superb kick, Raiders lead 18-12. There's only about 20 seconds left until halftime, the Raiders go for a shift down their right as the siren sounds but Fogarty's ball is intercepted by Hunt and he scores! What a couple of minutes of action! Gagai converts and it's 18-all at the break. 35' Marzhew gets Newcastle's second N By Nick Campton Mariota gets pinged for a roll ball and the Knights go down their left again, Savage races up but takes the wrong man and Gagai puts Marzhew over. A poor read from the Raiders winger. Gagai converts and it's 12-all in the capital. 33' Knights build pressure but no points N By Nick Campton Newcastle run it on the last, Marzhew centre-kicks, Weekes can't field it and Young cleans it up. Raiders drop it out and Fogarty absolutely belts it - the Knights let it bounce and don't pick it up until it gets to their own 20! They work it up field and force another drop out, this time through the backrower McEwan. They're looking better the Knights, they've worked their way back into the match physically.....but an error from Hetherington in the play the ball releases the pressure. 26' Sasagi goes over for Canberra's second N By Nick Campton Marzhew knocks on another bomb in a contest with Savage and the Raiders have a fresh set in the 20 and off the scrum Sasagi goes straight through easily to score! That's a very soft try but another big play from Sasagi, he's been one of Canberra's big improvers this year. The rain is starting to fall in Canberra and it's icy conditions already. Fogarty nails the kick and it's 12-6 Raiders. 19' Knights reply through KPP N By Nick Campton A flop penalty on Timoko gets the Knights up Canberra's end and a late tackle from Starling gives them a fresh set. It's their first proper chance of the day, can they make the most of it? They can! Thompson hits half a gap and throws a sensational offload to Pearce-Paul to score. Nice fightback from the Knights. Gagai converts and it's 6-all. 16' Raiders waste a chance N By Nick Campton Marzhew knocks on a Fogarty kick and the Raiders have a fresh set inside the attacking 20 but Horsburgh drops an easy pass and the Knights recover. 10' Weekes flashes over for the first try N By Nick Campton The Raiders are in! They spread it left, Sasagi gets a super offload to Stuart and he's in the clear, he finds Young who draws Gagai and hits Weekes who cruises over. Lovely footy, excellent work from Sasagi who's filling in at centre today. Fogarty converts and it's 6-0 Raiders. 8' Horsburgh nearly scores a stunner N By Nick Campton Horsburgh charges down a kick from Cogger and picks it up, he's off for the line but gets chased down by Gamble, he has Young in support but the cover drags him down. But then the Raiders don't get anyone to dummy half! Horsburgh himself knocks it on as Gagai looks to dive on it. Chance gone begging for Canberra. Tips for Raiders-Knights N By Nick Campton Hard to go past the Raiders here given Newcastle's injury list but Canberra will want a more comprehensive performance than what they've had in recent weeks. Let's go with Matt Timoko as first tryscorer, he's due one and after how he bombed a shocker last week he'll be keen to get over.
