Desert Vipers Sign Pakistani Star All-Rounder for Global Super League 2026

Islamabad United skipper and Pakistan’s star all-rounder Shadab Khan has been drafted into the Desert Vipers squad for the 2026 edition of the Global Super League (GSL), which will be held from July 23 to August 1.

The franchise has put together a squad featuring players from multiple countries, with New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell and USA wicketkeeper-batter Andries Gous adding firepower to the top order. Chris Green will captain the side and will also be part of the all-rounders group that includes Shadab Khan and Khuzaima Bin Tanveer.

Shadab heads into the tournament with extensive franchise cricket experience, having already represented teams in the BPL, LPL, ILT20, The Hundred, MLC, BBL, and CPL. His presence gives the Vipers another proven T20 performer with both bat and ball.

The leg-spinner has also made a strong mark as a leader in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He guided Islamabad United to the title in the ninth edition and has delivered 40 wins in 69 matches as captain, giving him a win percentage of 57.97.

He remains one of the league’s most productive all-rounders as well. In 98 PSL matches, Shadab has scored 1,486 runs at a strike rate of 142.20 and has hit nine half-centuries. With the ball, he has picked up 112 wickets, which places him among the top wicket-takers in the tournament’s history.

The upcoming GSL 2026 will feature five teams and 11 matches, with the entire competition set to take place at Providence Stadium in Guyana.
