Tottenham Hotspur reportedly set to sack Ange Postecoglou, new manager lined up

A report out of the UK indicates Tottenham has made the decision to sack Ange Postecoglou in the coming days, with the axe to drop on the Aussie despite delivering on his promise to win the club a trophy in his second season.

Just over a week since Postecoglou ignited a street party in North London after bringing the Europa League trophy back from Spain, Spurs are preparing to move in a different direction.

That huge achievement has not been able to quieten the speculation surrounding the besieged Postecoglou and it now appears breaking Tottenham's trophy drought won't be enough to give him a stay of execution after a miserable Premier League season.

A 17th place result was the worst for the club since 1976-77, recording the most defeats (22) by a team throughout the 38-game season without being relegated to the Championship.

No formal decision has been announced by the club as chairman Daniel Levy has been out of the country in recent weeks, while Postecoglou has also been on holidays, but several outlets in the UK are now claiming that the decision has been made.

Football Insider reports that Tottenham is holding off from announcing its decision to move on from Postecoglou while it waits for the high emotion following the Europa League triumph to subside.

The report states that Brentford's Thomas Frank, Fulham's Marco Silva and Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola each have admirers in Tottenham's board room. Frank is widely considered the frontrunner to replace Postecoglou.

Postecoglou's likely departure will not be the only change to occur at the club as Levy confirmed Vinai Venkatesham will become the new chief executive.

A new medical team and sport science department is also widely expected to be introduced during the off-season.

If a call is to be made on Postecoglou, his successor will become the 17th manager to lead the club in the past 25 years under Levy's leadership.
