David Moyes outlines how many transfers Everton need to make and priority positionsDavid Moyes has been talking about the current transfer window ahead of Everton's trip to Brighton & Hove AlbionDavid Moyes could have a busy end to the January transfer window at EvertonEverton manager David Moyes has outlined how many players he believes the club need to bring in before the end of the current transfer window. The Blues have until 11pm UK time on February 3 to make any further additions for the 2024/25 season and since he returned for a second stint in charge at Goodison Park, the Scot has not been shy about outlining his desire to add to the squad.Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Everton’s game at Brighton & Hove Albion, Moyes said: “I’m trying to catch up where we are. But I’m also finding out a lot more about some restrictions and things that we can do and we can’t do.“But overall, look, I’m still pretty hopeful that we’ll make additions before the end of the window, that’s for sure. You never want to promise it but I’m quite confident we’ll try and get something done.”David Moyes reveals Dwight McNeil may need surgery as he gives Everton injury update READ MORE:In terms of how much of those players are his own choices and who have been identified by director of football Kevin Thelwell, Moyes said: “Most of the targets have already been in this. I’ve come in and I’ve been able to throw my tuppence worth in and around it and see some things.“The people here are the ones who have been working on it, probably for the last three or four months. I’m listening to them and seeing what we’ve got to do.“In the past, we’ve always signed players here at this club who have gone on to become great characters, they’ve been people who have had longevity at the club. I hope the people we’ve brought in during the past have had a wee bit of DNA connection with this club and what we’d want.“So, I’m keen to add all that back into what we’re bringing in. But obviously we’re in such a short period to try and get that right, it makes it quite difficult as you don’t get much time to see them.“I hope that we’re able to bring a couple of players in. We need it, we need to add a couple of players to the squad – that’s my feeling.”Asked about competition at left-back for Vitalii Mykolenko, Moyes added: “I think if you asked all Evertonians they'd probably say we're short in the frontline. We'd like to add attacking players, maybe another midfield player if possible, but I'd agree we'd like to strengthen at left-back, and maybe have another addition there if possible, but I don't know if I can fit all that in just now."We'll see what we can do but we still have the possibility of playing Ashley (Young) at left-back as a back-up."Everton currently have no domestic loan spaces available but they could free one up if they can agree a deal with Chelsea to send injured striker Armando Broja back to Stamford Bridge. The Albania international was stretchered off in the FA Cup third-round tie against Peterborough United and following the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in his first game in charge, Moyes suggested that the player could be sent back to west London for his rehabilitation due to an expected lay-off of 10-12 weeks.Article continues belowAsked today about that was still on the cards, the 61-year-old said: “At the moment I don’t think there’s a firm decision been taken but what you’re suggesting and the conversations we’ve had, there’s a possibility. But at this moment in time, it’s not confirmed, not yet.
