Mac Allister starred alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai as the Reds opened up a big gap on the Gunners, who were beaten on Saturday afternoon by West Ham United at the Emirates. After Mohamed Salah had scored his 30th goal of the season, Szoboszlai fired in a second before the break and had a second assist of the game chalked off in the second half for offside after his pass gave Curtis Jones a tap-in at the Etihad.Gravenberch has been widely hailed as one of the form midfielders of European football under Arne Slot this term and the tireless Szoboszlai has seen his own influence grow in recent weeks in Arne Slot's team. All three players arrived on Merseyside in the summer transfer window of 2023 and Mac Allister has talked up the importance of those who provide the midfield blend at Anfield."It's always easier when you have good players around and that's our case," the Argentina international said."We have a really good team and really good midfielders who came to the club at the same time as me, not long ago. We are complementing each other really well and we are happy to play with each other."Yeah Dom, he is really important for us. I think you could see physically he is really good; he can score and also assist. He is doing really well and is really important for us."It definitely was [an important win]. When you come to these places and play teams like Man City you always want to win. Today we were really committed to what we wanted, maybe we didn't play as we wanted, we didn't keep the possession as we wanted, but we had to defend and we had to do it pretty well.Article continues below"It is still a long way. We have the 11 points but they have [played] one game less so it is still the same. There are some really difficult games ahead."On Arsenal's result on Saturday, Mac Allister added: “Of course you watch the game, I did watch it when I got home the last 30 minutes. You want them to lose, I think that is pretty normal because that makes our life easier."But we have many games ahead which are going to be really difficult and we know they are a really good team who will push us as well. When I watch, I don't enjoy, I prefer to play them.”
