5 players Liverpool is tipped to sign in January including Martin Zubimendi and 18-goal superstar

Liverpool only made one signing during the first summer under Arne Slot and Richard Hughes: Federico Chiesa. Giorgi Mamardashvili was snapped up as well, of course, but that was a player who was never going to be involved this season.

In such a good position in both the Premier League and the Champions League, it would be no bad thing to add another new face to the Liverpool roster. There are still a couple of areas that could do with being a bit stronger.

Here, Liverpool.com takes a look at five players who are being tipped to make the move to Anfield in the new year. We start with a very familiar name who was pursued during the summer window.

Martin Zubimendi

Having missed out on Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi during the summer, Liverpool is being tipped to go back in for the Spain star during the next transfer window. The interest remains but for a deal to happen, the player would need to change his stance on not wanting to leave his boyhood club.

Liverpool.com says: While Zubimendi is excellent and it would be good to get some more depth in the number six area to help out Ryan Gravenberch, the Reds should be wary. The player didn't feel comfortable making the move a few months ago and even if he changes his mind, it could be a risk.

Omar Marmoush

With Mohamed Salah flourishing this season, adding another Egyptian goalscoring machine into the mix would seem an exciting prospect. According to Fichajes, Liverpool is among the teams looking at Omar Marmoush, who has scored 13 times and assisted seven this season so far for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. He has 18 goals and 12 assists in 24 matches in all competitions.

Liverpool.com says: Marmoush is clearly superb and his numbers are off the scale but there are two big questions. One is about where he would fit in with Liverpool already having six senior forwards. The other is whether this is a hot streak or something more long-term and sustainable.

Jamal Musiala

According to Rousing The Kop, Liverpool is poised and ready to pounce if a transfer deal for Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala becomes a possibility during 2025. More likely, that would come in the summer rather than the winter, and only if he doesn't sign a new contract. Musiala's existing deal expires in 2026.

Liverpool.com says: The Reds know a thing or two about contract concerns. Musiala would be an excellent signing if it was possible but it would be a non-starter mid-season. Even with a year left on his deal in the summer, the German playmaker would still be hugely expensive to bring to Anfield.

Christian Pulisic

AC Milan is looking to hand USMNT star Christian Pulisic a new contract amid interest from Liverpool, according to the Italian outlet Calciomercato. Fellow Premier League side Manchester United is also claimed to be looking at the 27-year-old.

Liverpool.com says: Pulisic has done well in Italy but Liverpool doesn't need another winger and even if it did, the American would be too old to target. This smells very much of agent talk to force AC Milan into getting a move on when it comes to offering new terms.

Antonee Robinson

Another USMNT star, Liverpool has been linked with the left-back with some chatter about the form and future of Andy Robertson. Football Insider has been among those to claim the Reds admire the Fulham ace. At 27, though, he is very much like Pulisic: a very unlikely Liverpool transfer target given his age.

Liverpool.com says: Left-back is probably an area to look at in 2025 but Robinson isn't the right age. Instead, someone like Milos Kerkez or Rayan Ait-Nouri would make much more sense. They both have Premier League experience and are proven in the English game. Neither would be cheap but both are excellent players in the making.
