Match Awards from Bayern Munich’s close call 1-1 draw vs. Celtic in the Champions League

Bayern Munich needed to deliver their best performance today to advance in the Champions League, and while they accomplished that mission, it was a struggle to do so. Here’s our awards for the night.

Jersey Swap – Nicolas-Gerrit Kühn

Kühn came back to haunt his old club, scoring in both matches against them. His clinical finishing made him a nightmare for Bayern’s defense, proving that sometimes, the ones you let go can hurt you the most. Despite not ultimately winning the game for Celtic, he still proved his mettle.

Der Kaiser – Josip Stanišić

No drama, no fuss—just solid, reliable defending. Stanišić quietly handled his business at the back, making sure to shut down opponents but also get involved in the attacking plays. He took care of the right flank and did quite well in the midfield too.

Fußballgott – Leon Goretzka

Bayern’s midfield powerhouse finding his form again, Goretzka brought a mix of physicality and late attacking attempts that made him a constant threat from even the midfield. He covered ground tirelessly, broke up opposition play, and played a key role in transitions—proving once again why he’s an essential part of the squad.

Der Bomber – Michael Olise

Olise lit up the right side of the pitch with his dribbling, vision, and ability to unlock defenses. His creativity and end product made him Bayern’s most dangerous attacking outlet. While Serge Gnabry also impressed, Olise’s consistency and flair edged him ahead. There’s a lot to improve in the young Frenchman’s game, but for now he’s the best Bayern has.

Meister of the Match – Joshua Kimmich

If Bayern needed a pass, a tackle, or a moment of leadership, Kimmich delivered. He was everywhere—dictating the tempo, covering defensive gaps, and setting up attacks. His relentless work rate and football intelligence made him the heartbeat of the team. Kimmich had an incredible pass accuracy of 96% and somehow made himself a threat both in front of goal and at defense.
