Mohammad Amir has slammed Mohsin Naqvi and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for trying to make the players the scapegoats after Pakistan's underwhelming T20 World Cup 2026. As per a report by The Express Tribune, every player in the squad could be slapped with a fine of PKR 5 million (approximately Rs 16 lakh) after the team failed to live up to performance standards. The move, believed to have been initiated by PCB Chairman Naqvi, signals a tougher stance from the board when it comes to international setbacks. Insiders suggest that the management’s patience has worn thin following a series of disappointing displays in key ICC tournaments. However, Amir has slammed the move from PCB, saying that the fines should also apply to the administration as well. The former pacer said that the selectors should be held accountable for wrong combinations."If fines are the solution, apply them to everyone - from selectors to the administration. Players weren't forced at gunpoint. Hold selectors accountable for wrong combinations. Double the fine for them. Stop scapegoating players. This isn't the real solution. Why do players have to suffer all the time?" Amir said in a talk show."If you can't pick the right combination, the ones who selected the squad and chalked out the plans must answer. Will you fine Fakhar Zaman as well, who played just two games? What about Sahibzada Farhan?" he asked.FINES AREN'T THE SOLUTIONAmir said that fines aren't the solution and it was high time PCB started to focus more on domestic cricket. The former pacer said that the players should be dropped for their performances, instead of fining and tell them to perform well in the domestic circuit."Fines aren't the solution. I've said it from day one - invest in domestic cricket. That is where you will find quality players. If you are angry with someone, don't fine them; drop them and tell them to perform consistently for two years in domestic cricket. The biggest punishment for a player is being left out of the team," Amir added. 'This was the second T20 World Cup edition in a row that Pakistan failed to make it to the semi-finals. During the T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan managed to just beat one full member nation in the form of Sri Lanka and suffered defeats to the likes of India and England.T20 World Cup | T20 World Cup Schedule | T20 World Cup Points Table | T20 World Cup Videos | Cricket News | Live Score- EndsPublished By:alan johnPublished On:Mar 4, 2026 11:08 IST
