New Zealand defeated Pakistan by nine wickets in the first T20I of the five-match series. The Kiwis were on fire from the word go and didn't allow Pakistan any momentum. The Men in Green was put into bat by Michael Bracewell and the bowlers proved the call right after bowling out the visitors for a mere 91. Kyle Jamieson ran through the top order, picking three wickets for eight runs, while Jacob Duffy bagged four to make a mockery of the Pakistan batting. Only Khushdil Shah played a couple of good shots and scored 32 to take Pakistan near the 100-run mark.

The chase was as smooth as it gets as New Zealand cruised to the target in the 11th over. Tim Seifert played a crisp inning of 44 before falling to Abrar Ahmed, but the damage was already done.

New Zealand not just dominated Pakistan with the bat and ball, but in the field too. Tim Robinson 's catch of Shadab Khan was one of the best catches in recent times. Glenn Phillips pulled off a few stunners during the ICC Champions Trophy and the catch was on on par with those blinders. WATCH

Pakistan captain Salman Agha reacted to the defeat and credited the Kiwi bowlers for keeping things tight. "It was difficult, we weren't up to the mark, but we need to regather (ahead of Dunedin). They bowled really well, in great areas, and there was a bit of seam movement as well. We will sit down, have a chat and think about the next game. We had three debutants, the more games they play, they'll learn more. The new ball does a bit in New Zealand, we've good bowlers and we'll look to do well in the next match," said Salman Ali Agha at the post-match presentation..
