Liverpool FC team news vs. Real Madrid - Injuries and available squad

There is positive news on Curtis Jones‘ availability for Liverpool’s game against Real Madrid, but Alexander Isak will be made to wait for his return.

With nearly five full days until Liverpool’s next match after facing Madrid – crazy, I know – Slot needn’t worry about resting players with Sunday’s match at Man City in mind.

However, he will have to consider how those who started against Aston Villa are faring ahead of an intense night of Champions League football at Anfield.

Here is who will miss out for Liverpool vs. Real Madrid:

• Curtis Jones – available

• Alexander Isak (groin) – out

• Jeremie Frimpong (hamstring) – out

• Alisson (hamstring) – out

• Giovanni Leoni (ACL) – out

• Jayden Danns (hamstring) – out

• Stefan Bajcetic (hamstring) – out

The main news to come out of Slot’s press conference was the continued absence of Isak.

Unlike Jones who trained with the team on Monday afternoon, the Swede was not involved and won’t play a part against Madrid.

Slot explained: “With Alex, we have to wait and see. Definitely not starting on Sunday, but maybe he can be involved in the squad.

“But he is still not training with the team, so we have to wait and see.”

Any hopes of soon seeing Alisson or Jeremie Frimpong were also vanquished by Slot as he declared they “will both also not be available for Sunday.”

The latest report on Frimpong even suggests he may not return until December, while Alisson is expected back after the November international break.

Jayden Danns and Stefan Bajcetic also remain out with hamstring injuries, while Giovanni Leoni continues his slow recovery from ACL surgery.

There are injury issues in the Real Madrid camp too, with four key players absent from their Champions League plans.

While Trent Alexander-Arnold has been included in the travelling squad, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger and Franco Mastantuono have not.

This means either Federico Valverde or Alexander-Arnold will likely start at right-back for the visitors.

Defenders: Van Dijk, Konate, Gomez, Bradley, Robertson, Kerkez
