West Ham broke a quite incredible Premier League record against Fulham

West Ham United earned a vital three points against Fulham in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

Graham Potter took charge of his first game as the new West Ham head coach at the London Stadium on Tuesday, and his task was to mastermind a big win against an in-form Fulham side.

Incredibly, with so many players out injured, the Hammers got the job done in the end, despite some really challenging moments throughout the match.

Potter spoke after the game and praised numerous West Ham players, including the ‘aggressive’ Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

There were really impressive performances all over the pitch in fairness, and it was the togetherness of the team that really caught my eye.

Much brighter times lie in wait for us, and I’m convinced that Potter will bring some real success to the London Stadium.

There is one thing in particular he has to address though, after the Hammers broke a Premier League record during our win over Fulham.

The Hammers suffered at times against the Cottagers, but the players really dug in and got the job done in the end.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

There is still a lot of work to be done, especially defensively, but the improvements have been clear for everyone to see already.

Potter has been in charge for just five days and he has already overseen a new record!

Carlos Soler scored the Hammers’ opener during our hugely important 3-2 win.

And with that, we broke a Premier League record in the process.

According to the Premier League’s official website, that is a new record.

Whilst the record is an incredible one, I don’t think it necessarily reflects that well on us.

More stability required at West Ham

What is does prove is that we’ve had a huge turnover of players during the years we’ve spent in the Premier League, with instability seriously hindering our hopes of ever achieving real success.

Hopefully that all changes with Potter at the helm now – not immediately though!

West Ham obviously need to make some big signings over the next two transfer windows, so we will most likely have even more new players scoring goals for us.

However, throughout the course of the next five years or so, I expect to see much more stability from the Hammers with Graham Potter in charge.

The fact that West Ham had 175 different goal-scorers in the Premier League proves that we have nothing more than a revolving door policy at the London Stadium.

That’s no way to run a football club. It is impossible to achieve sustained success with that kind of turnover.

And I fully expect that to change once Potter has built the squad that he wants.
