Longtime Steelers star Cam Heyward wants no part of any quarterback drama, and he sent a message to Aaron Rodgers as the 41-year-old drags out his NFL free agency decision.Heyward, 35, was asked on his podcast “Not Just Football” if he would go on a darkness retreat with Rodgers to help recruit him to Pittsburgh.“I ain’t doing that darkness retreat. I don’t need any of that crap,” said Heyward, a seven-time Pro Bowler. “Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don’t. That’s simple. That’s the pitch. If you want me to recruit, that’s the recruiting pitch. Pittsburgh Steelers, if you want to be a part of it, so be it. If you don’t, no skin off my back.”Rodgers has been pursued by the Steelers and Giants but is hoping to sign with the Vikings, according to The Athletic, after Minnesota let Sam Darnold walk.Darnold signed a three-year, $100.5 million contract with the Seahawks that is only guaranteed for the first year at $37.5 million, per ProFootballTalk.3 Aaron Rodgers Charles Wenzelberg / New York Post3 Cam Heyward during the newest episode of his podcast, “Not Just Football.” YouTube/Not Just Football with Cam HeywardThe Vikings could turn to J.J. McCarthy, who missed his entire rookie season after undergoing knee surgery. It’s unclear whether the Steelers would re-sign Russell Wilson, while they lost Justin Fields to the Jets. Wilson has visited with the Browns and Giants.“I just want to play football,” Heyward said. “I’m tired of talking about the quarterback situation. I’d rather have it done. I don’t know what ends up happening. I don’t know, man. This is, ugh. I’m ready to move on from free agency.”3 Cam Heyward Getty ImagesPittsburgh did bring Mason Rudolph back on a two-year, $8 million contract after he left for a one-year stint with the Titans, and Heyward seems to be comfortable with Rudolph potentially being the team’s starter.“If we don’t sign a quarterback and we go into the year with Mason, I think we feel good about it.” Heyward said. “Excited to have him back.”
