120The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took strict action against Fakhar Zaman after the latter was involved in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) clash against Karachi Kings at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The incident has raised a lot of debate among the cricketing community about fair play and conduct in high-pressure matches.Zaman 35 was charged by the match referee, Roshan Mahanama a Level 3 offence under Article 2.14 of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. According to the PCB, the cricketer violated Article 41.3 of the PSL playing conditions, which prohibits any action that changes the condition of the ball during a match. The controversy started just before the last over of Karachi’s batting when the chasing team needed 14 runs to win. According to the research camera, the player was seen talking to the fast bowler, Haris Rauf, and the captain, Shaheen Afridi, before the over. The umpire, Faisal Afridi, who suspected cheating, called for ball inspection and then had a long discussion with the other officials. In the end, the match officials gave the local team 5 penalty runs and changed the ball. The target for Karachi was reduced to 9 runs, and they managed to reach it to win the game.During the hearing, Zaman denied all allegations of ball-tampering. The match referee took 48 hours to examine the incident and arrive at a decision. Present during the proceedings were Captain Shaheen Afridi, team director Sameen Rana, and team manager Farooq Anwar. After reviewing the evidence, the PCB confirmed that Fakhar Zaman had been found guilty of a Level 3 offence and would face a suspension.Fakhar Zaman to miss 2 PSL GamesAs a result, Zaman will miss Lahore Qalandars’ next two PSL fixtures. He will sit out the home game against Multan Sultans on April 3, as well as the away match against Islamabad United on April 9 in Karachi.
