Aaron Rodgers upset after just missing DK Metcalf for deep TD

The Steelers strike first with a 59-yard field goal from Chris Boswell, but only after Rodgers shows some frustration after sending a deep ball just over the head of a streaking Metcalf, who'd cruised past the Chargers' secondary. It's unclear if A-Rod was upset about Metcalf not getting to the spot or the protection breakdown that prompted him to hurl it on the move.

Top prop bets: Justin Herbert poised for big day through the air

SportsLine's artificial intelligence model indicates Herbert is a safe bet to air it out against Pittsburgh's aging secondary:

After analyzing ... the dozens of NFL player prop markets, the SportsLine's Machine Learning AI says Chargers QB Herbert goes over 252.5 passing yards (-114). Herbert has gone over his passing yards market in six of his last 10 games, with an average of 263.2 passing yards per game. In a 38-24 loss to the Colts, he completed 37 of 55 passes (67.3 average) for 420 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions. He registered 264 passing yards in a 29-27 win over Miami on Oct. 12.

Herbert is also going against a Steelers defense that ranks 32nd in the league in passing yards allowed. Through eight games, Pittsburgh has given up 278.3 yards per game. The SportsLine Machine Learning Model projects Herbert to have 290.3 passing yards and gives this prop a 4 out of 5-star prop rating.

Chargers lineup report: Trade acquisition set for backup role

Los Angeles added former first-round pick Trevor Penning via trade with the Saints this week, but the veteran will begin his Chargers career on the bench, coach Jim Harbaugh announced. That means Austin Deculus will open Sunday night's game as Justin Herbert's blind-side blocker, while Trey Pipkins will start at right tackle. Both Deculus and Pipkins are serving as injury replacements, with Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt -- the club's Opening Day starters -- sidelined for the rest of 2025.

Why the Steelers can win: Ball control and Mike Tomlin's defense

From SportsLine expert Ross Kelly, who's on a 37-19 run making picks on Steelers games:

No stat correlates with wins and losses as much as turnover differential, and the Steelers are elite in that metric. Their +9 turnover differential is second-best in the league, while just six teams have a worse turnover differential than the Chargers (-4). Pittsburgh's defense also stepped up in a big way in its defeat of the Colts, holding the league's top-scoring team to 13 points fewer than their season average on Sunday.
