(t20mumbai/Instagram)SoBo Mumbai Falcons captain Shreyas Iyer refused to blame any player or single out mistakes after his side’s defeat to Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals in the title clash of the Mumbai T20 League at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday (June 12). Instead, he admitted that playing big clashes in front of huge crowds can bring out mistakes, backing his teammates to learn and come back stronger next year.Shreyas got out for 12 (17) as the Falcons could only score a sub-par 157/4 in the first innings. In reply, Chinmay Rajesh Sutar’s 53 and Awais Khan Naushad’s 38 helped the Maratha Royals pass the mark in the final over, with five wickets to spare. This was Shreyas’ second defeat in the final, having finished runners-up with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025, losing to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).Recommended Stories“It’s pretty hectic (two finals in 10 days)," Shreyas said after the match, as quoted by Cricbuzz. “Especially when you lose, it runs in your mind a lot. The way everyone turned up in numbers was outstanding to see. The whole stadium was electrifying. Thank you so much for coming and supporting (to the fans)," he added.top videos View all Swipe Left For Next Video View all“Don’t want to pinpoint any particular incident," he added. “Overall the boys were brilliant with their efforts. We just lost one game on the way to the final. Just a one-off game where you can’t pinpoint on anyone – it’s basically backstabbing and I don’t enjoy that. We have learnt a lot. Pretty common to feel dejected after losing the final. It must hurt them. When they come back next year they would be having that motivation and confidence. They should be proud of their efforts. They came in here, not too much experience and playing in front of 20000 people – it’s not easy. I’ve been there, done that. When the nerves get into you, you tend to make mistakes but it teaches you a lot and you come back stronger."The back-to-back final defeats come after a two-year trophy heaven for Shreyas, where he won the IPL with the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Irani Cup with Mumbai and the 2025 Champions Trophy with India.About the Author Cricketnext Staff A team of reporters, writers and editors brings you news, analyses, features, live scores, results, stats and everything that’s cricket from all over the globe.
