Alex Eala reaches career-high no. 75 in world rankings

It's official: Alex Eala is now no. 75 in the women's tennis world rankings.

In the update made by the Women's Tennis Association on Monday, Eala is now 75th in the world following her historic run in the Miami Open.

The 19-year old Filipina reached the semis against eventual finalist Jessica Pegula, but dispatched three Grand Slam champions en route to the final four round.

Eala defeated Katie Volynets in the round of 128 before winning against 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko, 2025 Australian Open champion Madison Keys, and five-time Grand Slam titleholder Iga Swiatek.

Eala, who was at no. 140 last week, leaped 65 spots to reach the new career-high.

The Filipino tennis ace, however, said the "real work starts now" as new opportunities await in her tennis career.
