Manchester United agree second loan departure of summer transfer window

Habeeb Ogunnye is leaving Man Utd on loan to spend the 2025/2026 season with Newport County.

Manchester United defender Habeeb Ogunneye is joining Newport County on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old spent last season playing for the Under-21s and will now get a first taste of senior football.

‌

The defender was selected to train with Ineos-owned FC Lausanne Sport in October. Ogunneye trained with Lausanne's first-team and will now get the chance to play in League Two.

‌

Erik ten Hag named Ogunneye in United's squad in the Premier League for seven games near the end of the 2023/2024 season, but he was named in a senior squad just once last season.

Ogunneye has been identified as someone who will benefit from a loan.

United have a strong relationship with Newport County after Charlie McNeill was sent to the Welsh club in 2023.
