WHAT: Scottish Cup Final, Aberdeen v Celtic

WHEN: Saturday 24th May, 3pm

WHERE: Hampden Park, Glasgow

TV: BBC One Scotland/BBC iPlayer/Premier Sports

Celtic -1

Celtic enter this match with the chance to secure a historic ninth treble for the club, a motivation that should drive them to perform at their highest level.

Under Brendan Rodgers, they have been a class above their domestic rivals this season, winning 33 of their 46 games (71.7%) across all competitions by a margin of two or more goals, a testament to their dominance and ability to win convincingly.

Their recent record against Aberdeen highlights the gulf between the two sides. Celtic have demolished Jimmy Thelin’s team 5-1 in each of their last two meetings, and while one encounter earlier in the season was a narrow 1-0 victory, their 6-0 thrashing of Aberdeen in the League Cup semi-final showcased their ruthless edge.

Aberdeen, meanwhile, arrive in poor form, having lost their last four domestic matches. Their confidence took another hit last weekend with a damaging defeat to Dundee United.

Their struggles against Scotland’s top sides in 2025 have been glaring – aside from heavy losses to Celtic, they’ve also been beaten 3-0 and 4-0 by Rangers in away fixtures.

4/5 Celtic Alternative Handicaps 1 Bet Here

Aberdeen to be shown the most cards

There’s a stark contrast between these two sides when it comes to discipline this season. Celtic have been the cleanest team in the Scottish Premiership, picking up just 33 cards – the fewest in the league. Aberdeen, meanwhile, sit near the top of the disciplinary table for the wrong reasons, with only St Mirren receiving more than their 92 cautions.

Celtic’s opponents also tend to rack up cards against them; their league rivals have been shown 86 bookings this season, the 2nd-highest total in the division.

This trend has held firm in Aberdeen’s meetings with Celtic. In four of their five clashes this campaign, the Dons have picked up at least three cards, including three games where they received five or more. In total, Jimmy Thelin’s side have been shown 18 cards against the Hoops this season, while Celtic have been booked just four times – never more than once in a single match.

Aberdeen have also been more ill-disciplined than their opponents in four of the five meetings between the two sides this term, further highlighting their struggles to keep their composure against the champions.

1/2 Aberdeen Team To Receive The Most Cards Bet Here

Celtic 7+ corners

Celtic dominate the corner count like no other team in the Scottish Premiership, averaging a league high 8.76 corners per game this season – a full 2.0 more than any other side.

Aberdeen concede an average of 5.82 corners per match, but that number jumps to 7.26 when playing away – the 4th-worst record in the division.

This trend has been even more pronounced in head-to-head meetings. Across their four league clashes this season, Celtic racked up a staggering 38 corners, an average of 9.5 per game. They won 6+ corners in three of those four matches, further underlining their ability to pin Aberdeen back and create set-piece opportunities.

4/5 7 Or More Corners Away Team Over Corners Bet Here

Alfie Dorrington to be shown a card

On-loan Tottenham defender Alfie Dorrington has only started once against Celtic, and it proved to be a tough outing – he was sent off in that match, struggling with the step up in quality against the champions.

Dorrington has generally been a disciplined performer, but the pace and physicality of Celtic overwhelmed him last time. Adam Idah didn’t even start in that game, meaning the young defender now faces an even sterner test this time around.

That previous meeting with Celtic was the most challenging start of his career, and he failed to rise to the occasion. Now, with this being the biggest match of his life, there will be added nerves as he comes up against the same side that saw him dismissed.

With just 16 first-team appearances in his career, experience is not on his side. He was also booked in Aberdeen’s 2-1 semi-final win over Hearts last month, another sign that high-pressure matches can test his composure.

4/1 Alfie Dorrington Shown a Card Bet Here

Adam Idah to score anytime

Adam Idah has been in red-hot form recently, netting five goals in his last five games and only failing to score in one of those appearances despite starting on the bench twice.

He boasts Celtic’s best scoring rate in the Premiership this season, averaging 0.69 goals per 90 minutes. Beyond just finding the net, he’s been generating chances at an impressive rate, with 18 shots in just 238 league minutes (one every 13.2 minutes) before last weekend’s quiet showing against St Mirren.

Though he hasn’t started against Aberdeen this season, he’s still made a major impact in limited minutes. In just 97 league minutes against the Dons, he’s managed 10 shots, four on target, and one goal.

Given Aberdeen’s defensive struggles – 11 goals conceded in their last three league games and 17 shipped in their last four meetings with Celtic, it would be a shock if the inform striker doesn’t get chances to add to his tally in this match.
