Bangladesh cricket team’s head coach Phil Simmons has expressed confidence in his young squad ahead of the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Speaking to the media at Gaddafi Stadium on Monday, Simmons vowed that while some key players are missing, the team remains determined to play competitive cricket.

“Mustafizur Rahman is one of our key players, but unfortunately, he is not part of the squad for this series,” Simmons revealed.

“However, this gives us an opportunity to see what our young players can offer. There is a lot of potential in this group.”

Former West Indies all-rounder Simmons said that Pakistan is never an easy opponent. “We are fully aware of the challenge, and we are preparing accordingly,” he said.

Simmons acknowledged that several senior players are absent from the squad, but he expressed confidence in the younger players who have stepped up.

“Our squad may lack some experienced names, but the young cricketers included in the team are very talented and have a chance to prove themselves on this stage,” he said.

He also praised the recent addition of former Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait to the coaching staff, calling it a valuable boost to the team.
