Liverpool boost as 'fantastic' Premier League star who Jamie Carragher loves is open to move

TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Morgan Gibbs-White will consider his future at Nottingham Forest this summer if the club fails to secure Champions League football.

Forest are enjoying a remarkable campaign and currently sit sixth in the Premier League table — just four points behind third-placed Manchester City with a game in hand.

A host of players have delivered performances to help Nottingham Forest reach a position where Champions League qualification is now a very likely possibility, and one of the most influential has been Gibbs-White.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been instrumental to Forest’s success this season. However, with only two years left on his current deal, interest is growing from several top Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester City.

Morgan Gibbs-White to consider all options amid interest from Liverpool and Man City

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Morgan Gibbs-White will consider his options this summer if they fail to land a Champions League spot.

Forest are reluctant to lose the England international but recognise the growing level of interest.

TBR Football understands that the interest in the player is growing with Manchester City, Liverpool and Newcastle United all aware of his situation.

As previously reported by TBR Football, Forest are working to secure Gibbs-White to a new long-term deal.

However, the club is also aware that their talisman is attracting serious attention — and that retaining him may prove a challenge.

Sources have told TBR Football that Forest view Gibbs-White in the same bracket as Jack Grealish, who joined Manchester City in a £100 million deal — and any departure would command a similar figure.

Nottingham Forest are already planning for what could be a significant summer in the transfer market.

TBR Football understands that one of their primary attacking targets, Matheus Cunha, is heading to Manchester United — a blow that could impact their recruitment strategy.

That, combined with the uncertainty surrounding Gibbs-White, has left Forest with big decisions to make. They are determined to keep their key man, but equally aware that they must prepare for all scenarios.

Jamie Carragher on Morgan Gibbs-White

Gibbs-White joined Nottingham in 2022 from Wolves and very quickly established himself as one of the best players at the club.

In the 2023/24 season, he scored five goals and assisted ten in thirty-seven league games and has continued his form this season, scoring five and assisting nine in thirty games so far.

His performances have earned him praise from fans and pundits alike, with Jamie Carragher recently branding him a ‘fantastic’ player.

Speaking to Goal, Carragher included Gibbs-White in his Premier League Team of the Season.

Reserving the spot in the midfield for the versatile midfielder, Carragher said: “I’m going to go with Morgan Gibbs-White. I think he’s been fantastic. I think Forest have been brilliant, but, for me, I think he’s a very underrated player.”
