Sir Jim Ratcliffe will allow Ruben Amorim to determine the future of Marcus Rashford after the Manchester United star was left out again during the loss to Bournemouth. The Englishman watched on from the stands as he was overlooked for selection for the third time in a week. Amorim made a statement when he omitted Rashford from the Manchester derby win and he's not been able to find his way back since. The new manager cited issues with his training and the way he interacted with team-mates. Ratcliffe is now the man in charge of football operations at Old Trafford but he won't pressure Amorim to select or leave out the striker, who remains a top earner in Manchester. In less than a fortnight the January transfer window will open and Rashford could well move on next month, especially after he went publicly and claimed he was ready for a "new challenge."Amorim has maintained that team selection matters lie squarely with him. The Telegraph understands that Ratcliffe and the INEOS team in charge at Old Trafford will not intervene despite the noise surrounding his current exile, which continues to dominate the headlines.United’s asking price is reportedly in the region £40million but he is currently one of United’s current highest earners - which could complicate matters if the Premier League giants do indeed choose to cash in.Amorim watched United lose 3-0 to the Cherries but said when quizzed on Rashford's omission: “It’s my decision and it always will be. It is selection. I want to see the best of my players and I try different things with different players. That’s my focus.”Image: Getty Images) Getty Images)United, who will be in the bottom half of the table come Christmas Day, will head to Wolves on Boxing Day. The hectic Festive periods means Amorim is likely going to rotate his squad but gave little away regarding a return for Rashford. “It depends. We will see,” he said.Gary Neville admitted he was no longer surprised to see Rashford overlooked. “Rashford’s absence isn’t really a surprise anymore,” he said. “It’s something of the norm. You leave him out for three matches on the bounce, something really is going wrong or has gone wrong."It’s not looking great for both Marcus’s future at the club or Manchester United keeping him. I suspect it’s getting to the point in the journey where there is an inevitable ending.”Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
