The ripple effects from Mo Salah's stunning announcement are still being felt throughout Merseyside. Last week, the Egyptian confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, bringing the curtain down on nine remarkable, trophy-laden seasons at Anfield.

Tributes have flooded in from all corners of the football world, while Reds fans are still adjusting to the soon-to-happen exit of their iconic figure and the club's record Premier League scorer.

As the dust gradually settles, attention will inevitably turn to two important questions: what next for Liverpool and what next for Salah? With that in mind, here are the latest Liverpool-related headlines:

Salah tipped for shock move

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has suggested Salah might turn down a lucrative switch to the Saudi Pro League and instead consider a move to Italy this summer. For several years, clubs from Saudi Arabia have made Salah their No. 1 transfer target, submitting a series of massive offers that ultimately failed to lure him away from Anfield.

Now that his departure from Liverpool is official, that long-rumoured move to the Gulf seems closer than ever and many anticipate the 33-year-old will become the next high-profile player to head there.

Carragher, however, has a different view. Considering Salah's continued impact and top-tier displays, he believes the forward may choose to stay in European football for a bit longer. "I think Mo Salah, the way he's driven like a Ronaldo, I don't see the Saudi thing just yet," the former defender said on The Overlap podcast.

"I can see him in Italy with one of the giants. I just think your career's over when you go there (Saudi Arabia). I think he'll still be looking at his Champions League record or how many goals he can get.

"I still think he thinks, 'I'm still one of the best players, and me leaving now is not the end of my top-level career, I've still got something to give'."

Salah replacement roadblock

A number of players have been mentioned as possible replacements for Salah at Liverpool but few are as intriguing as Michael Olise. The Bayern Munich attacker is having an outstanding season, producing 16 goals and 27 assists while establishing himself as one of Europe's most dynamic offensive talents.

However, any attempt to lure the former Crystal Palace player away from Bayern could prove difficult. The German club have no plans to part ways with someone they consider vital to their squad and there is reportedly lingering frustration internally after Liverpool hijacked Bayern's pursuit of Florian Wirtz last summer - adding further complications to any negotiations.

Wirtz completed a move to Anfield from Bayer Leverkusen in a blockbuster £116million transfer, despite strong interest from both Bayern and Manchester City. Bayern, who are used to snapping up the Bundesliga's top talents, had been confident of securing him but Liverpool ultimately succeeded in winning the race for his signature.

Although Wirtz has yet to fully live up to his hefty fee, Bayern's annoyance is said to persist. As Fabrizio Romano reported, the club were displeased with Liverpool's approach during talks and are hesitant to "contribute to Liverpool's success" by selling them an elite player.

All of this underlines a clear issue for Liverpool: finding someone to match Salah's quality will be far from easy - and they may need to explore a broader range of options in their search for a successor this summer.
