Liverpool Want to Sign 'Special Talent' From Premier League Rivals

Liverpool could make a move for Crystal Palace star and England prodigy Adam Wharton in the coming months, according to reports - with the Reds 'monitoring' a potential move for the midfield maestro ahead of the summer transfer window opening in July.

Wharton has been Palace's metronome in their strong second half of the campaign, with impressive performances helping Oliver Glasner's team ease towards a top-half finish after a poor start to the Premier League season - and that has potentially piqued the interest of the Reds, who are looking to strengthen next season after spending a minimal amount last summer.

Report: Liverpool 'Monitoring' Adam Wharton

Wharton has been a revelation in recent months

The report by The Daily Mail states that Liverpool are 'monitoring' Wharton's situation closely, despite interest from other European powerhouses such as Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Having excelled at Palace this season, as well as last time out which saw him earn a place in England's EURO 2024 team, it's thought that Wharton would command a fee of around £60million - with Real chiefs having recently made checks on him, as well as the Reds, who are 'monitoring' his progress.

Wharton only joined Palace after making 51 appearances for hometown club Blackburn Rovers, including 44 in the Championship, but he's taken to the Premier League with ease and just 35 top-flight appearances later, he's being linked with moves to Liverpool after being called a 'special talent'.

The Reds have Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch in their ranks, but Wataru Endo could be on his way out and competition is needed for the thriving duo - with Wharton the ideal solution to move into that role.

Timing in the tackle, an inhibition to play the ball forward and a keen eye for a defence-splitting through ball have wowed scouts across the continent, and Arne Slot could make the move to land him on a permanent deal in the summer if there is scope for a move to happen.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Adam Wharton has one cap for England, coming in a pre-EURO 2024 friendly vs Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Palace will have European football to contend with next season if they beat City in Saturday's FA Cup final, but the lure of Champions League games and potentially another title could swing Wharton closer to home, making his name on Merseyside instead.
