India’s Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Vijay Sundar Prashanth, the top-seeded doubles pair at the Maha Open 2025 tennis, overcame compatriots Saketh Myneni and Ramkumar Ramanathan in Pune to reach the semi-finals on Thursday.The Indian tennis players saved a match point before clinching a 6-3, 3-6, 12-10 victory in the quarter-final match that lasted one hour and 28 minutes.Nedunchezhiyan and Prashanth will now face Niki Poonacha and Zimbabwe’s Courtney John Lock for a place in the final.Doubles finalists from last week’s Delhi Open, Niki Poonacha and John Lock, upset the fourth-seeded Australian pair of Blake Ellis and Tristan Schoolkate 7(7)-6(4), 6(4)-7(7), 10-8 in an exciting quarter-final match.The results mean that at least one Indian player guaranteed in the doubles final.In singles, Uzbekistan’s Khumoyun Sultanov produced an inspired comeback to beat former world No. 17 Bernard Tomic 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 and reached the quarter-finals.Sixth-seeded American Brandon Holt, son of former world No. 1 women’s player Tracy Austin, cruised past France’s Sascha Gueymard Wayenburg with a 6-4, 6-4 scoreline.Top seed Billy Harris of Great Britain fired 14 aces in his 7-5, 6-3 win over Japan’s Hiroki Moriya, while fifth-seeded Ugo Blanchet stopped compatriot Kyrian Jacquet’s winning streak with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory.
