Georgia Tech is dismissing coach Damon Stoudamire, sources told ESPN.

Stoudamire's tenure ends after a 12-game losing streak to close the season left Georgia Tech with an 11-20 overall record and a 2-16 mark in conference play. He finished his three seasons with a 42-44 overall record with the Yellow Jackets.

The move for Georgia Tech comes at a time when the school found competitiveness in football under coach Brent Key, but the school has failed to find consistent basketball success. Georgia Tech has made just one NCAA tournament appearance since 2010.

According to his contract, Georgia Tech is set to owe Stoudamire $2.6 million over the next two years, a number that is subject to offset if he takes another job.

According to sources, Georgia Tech officials are steadfast moving forward that they remain committed to resourcing the program at a competitive level. It will mark a key moment early in the tenure of first-year athletic director Ryan Alpert, who was hired in July from Tennessee.

Stoudamire is a former star player at Arizona who had a lengthy career in the NBA as a player. He came to Georgia Tech from the Boston Celtics, where he served as an assistant from 2021-23. He also worked collegiately as the head coach at Pacific, where he coached for five seasons.

Stoudamire's tenure at Georgia Tech began by going 14-18 in 2023-24, a season that included an upset of No. 7 Duke in his first-ever ACC game as a head coach. Georgia Tech went 17-17 in 2024-25, which included a bid in the NIT.

This season, Georgia Tech simply couldn't get out of a downward spiral. The Yellow Jackets trailed Virginia 42-9 in a February loss -- a low point in the 12-game losing streak, which concluded Saturday at Clemson and left Georgia Tech without a spot in the ACC tournament.

Georgia Tech finished this season last place in the ACC, two wins behind the next-worst teams.
