Mats Wieffer has been told he deserves to go to the World Cup this summer.

The Holland international scored late in each half as Albion won 2-0 at Burnley.

His first Premier League goals of the season secured a third successive away win.

Wieffer has been getting into dangerous areas since being switched from midfield to right-back this time last year.

But he had not been coming up with the end product in front of goal.

Albion boss Hurzeler said: “We want to give him the freedom.

“Overall he develops really well as a full-back because he has this freedom to join as a centre mid

“Defensively he is very physical in the personal duels.

“He has a good dynamic so therefore for me at the moment he is one of the best Dutch players in the world.

“Hopefully he has a chance to go to the World Cup because, for me, he definitely deserves it.”

Wieffer has 14 caps for Holland, the last of them last summer.

He missed out on recent squads but would love to join Bart Verbruggen and Jan Paul van Hecke on the plane to North America.

The two-gol haul was his first in senior football.

Hurzeler said: “He used his moments quite well. He was efficient.

“He had a very clever finish and that is what we like to see.

“Offensively I think one of his best games.

“Defensively, like the whole team, we can definitely improve.”

Wieffer’s only previous Premier League goal came at West Ham last season but the joy quickly evaporated as Albion conceded an equaliser and he was forced off through injury.

This time, he enjoyed the goal and the win and was pushed forward by team-mates to celebrate in front of the away fans at full-time.

Wieffer said: “We are in a good position, of course.
