Sunderland fans have claimed that Jude Bellingham joined in with a rude chant about Alan Shearer as he watched his brother play for the Black Cats on Boxing Day.Bellingham and his Real Madrid team-mates were handed the Christmas period off as La Liga enters its winter break. He travelled to Ewood Park on Thursday to see Sunderland take on Blackburn Rovers. His younger brother Jobe joined Sunderland from Birmingham City back in 2023. And he has become a key man this season, scoring four goals and notching three assists in all competitions. He played all 90 minutes on Boxing Day as his side travelled to play-off rivals Blackburn. The 19-year-old was cheered on by his brother, who flew over from Madrid to watch Thursday's match. But it was the older Bellingham who caught the headlines as he appeared to join in with a chant aimed at Shearer. The Newcastle legend won the Premier League with Blackburn and was an obvious target for the visiting Sunderland fans. Many supporters were convinced the elder Bellingham jokingly sung along when visiting fans taunted the BBC pundit. The 21-year-old was captured appearing to playfully mutter some of a chant that normally includes the wholesome words "he wears a magic hat".The new variant adapted by Sunderland fans though included: "Shearer is a w****r". Bellingham's head was seen swaying in time to the song and he was seen smiling as the chant was sung.Image: Ian Horrocks/Sunderland AFC via Getty Images) Ian Horrocks/Sunderland AFC via Getty Images)Sunderland fans were delighted by his show of support. One replied to a clip of the incident to say: "Not something that was on my list of things I’d expect to see this Christmas. But here we are. Legend!"Another added: "Can’t love the guy any more if I tried". While a third concluded: "Oh I love you Jude." His younger brother endured a difficult day in Sunderland's midfield as they were held to a draw by Blackburn. The Black Cats had fought back from going behind to Yuki Ohashi's deserved opener to go ahead thanks to a Chris Rigg strike and Wilson Isidor's backheel. But Rovers' late sub Harry Leonard grabbed a 90th-minute equaliser to leave Sunderland boss Regis le Bris cutting a frustrated figure."Overall, it’s not a bad result against a good team, but we probably have some regrets. We started very slowly, while the opponent began strongly. They were at home, pushing hard in the opening minutes, but we should have handled that period better," he said."It wasn’t our best first half, and we struggled under their pressure. In the second half, we reacted well, which shows our good mentality and ability to play quality football. The game became very unstable due to how both we and our opponent played."Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
