LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka accused of 'trying to wash sins' as franchise posts new video of Pant meeting: 'Scene recreated'

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have attempted to quell the controversy surrounding a viral video featuring team owner Sanjiv Goenka and captain Rishabh Pant by releasing “unfiltered” footage of the meeting. Still, the move has backfired with the fans.

What appeared as a replay of Goenka publicly rebuking his former captain, KL Rahul, during IPL 2024, the team owner was seen having a chat with Pant after LSG lost to Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets on Wednesday in IPL 2026.

The video of Sanjiv Goenka, son Shashwat Goenka, wife Preeti Goenka, LSG coach Justin Langer and Global Director of Cricket Tom Moody having a word with Rishabh Pant after a defeat in the opening match of IPL 2026 quickly went viral as fans started speculating that the owner was once again trying to meddle with the team affairs.

“Winning and losing are part of the game, but public humiliation shouldn’t be. If Sanjiv Goenka has concerns, they belong in the dressing room, not on a global broadcast,” one of the fans wrote on X.

LSG video invites more criticism for owner Goenka

To counter the arguments and present the meetup between Goenka and Pant as a friendly encounter, LSG released a video of the meeting without any background music. The audio of the conversation is not clear, but the participants can be seen sharing a laugh or two in the video.

“Not everything you see is the true story, here’s the unfiltered post-match vibes, when cameras don’t cut,” LSG wrote on X while sharing the video.

But the move has backfired as community notes added under the video on X say that “Goyenka is trying to wash his sins” by posting the video.

The community note also claimed that the video was a setup by LSG management and was shot separately to mislead the fans.

“Shri Goyenka is trying to wash his sins by posting videos taken post the incident. When spat occurred there was crowd. In This video there is no crowd which means Rishab Pant was called back to recreate the scene like Drishayam 2 Oct,” the community note read.

A large number of fans were also not convinced by the video as they felt that all is not well at LSG, and they also criticised Goenka for trying to interfere too much in the functioning of the team.
