Manchester United youngster Gabriele Biancheri has confirmed he is open to leaving the club on loan in this summer's transfer window.

The 18-year-old is widely considered as one of United's most exciting academy talents after scoring 25 goals for the Under-18s and Under-21s combined this season, positioning himself at the top of the academy's scoring charts.

The striker, who joined United from Cardiff City in February 2023, recently accepted an invitation to link up with the Canada squad ahead of their upcoming friendlies against Ukraine and the Ivory Coast after Wales boss Craig Bellamy informed him he is "not ready for first-team football".

Biancheri has represented Wales throughout his youth career but he qualifies to play for Canada through his mother. He also qualifies to play for Italy through his father.

But as far as his future at club level is concerned, the youngster is willing to head out on loan ahead of next season to try and some experience at senior level.

"I don't really know the plan for next season," Biancheri told The Athletic. "I just take everything as it comes.

"If that's going on loan and learning and getting experience playing men's football, I'll take it.

"If that's getting a chance with the first-team and playing Under-21s and earning my shot, that's what I'll do."

As things currently stand, Biancheri is at the back of a lengthy queue in the race to earn minutes at the tip of United's attack. Rasmus Hojlund, despite being linked with an exit, Joshua Zirkzee, Chido Obi and Ethan Wheatley are all currently ahead of him in the pecking order.

Despite his prolific record at youth level, the gulf between academy football and senior football is, of course, a sizeable one, particularly at a club of United's stature.

Biancheri added: "That's why I play football: to play at the highest level, to play for Man United's first-team. I'll always push myself to reach the heights I know I can.

"Playing for United's first-team is a dream, but I know I can make it happen."
