Shoaib Akhtar expressed frustration over Virender Sehwag's repeated references to his triple century against Pakistan in the 2004 Multan Test.India and Pakistan may not be playing bilateral cricket series, but that does not stop cricketers across the border from engaging in controversies.Virender Sehwag and Shoaib Akhtar - two flamboyant characters from the bygone era of Indian and Pakistani cricket - were known for their rivalry on the pitch. Post-retirement, they seemed to have not left that on-field rivalry behind.Off the pitch, their rivalry remains fierce, with both often engaging in controversies over remarks passed by either cricketer. The most recent controversy involves batting great Sehwag, who enjoyed a staggering 91.14 average against Pakistan during his illustrious career, and Akhtar, the fastest bowler in the world. The feud began when Akhtar released an Instagram video, taking a swipe at Sehwag for his frequent references to the triple hundred he scored against Pakistan during India’s 2004 tour.In the first Test of the three-match series in Multan, Sehwag took the Pakistani bowlers to the cleaners, scoring 309 at a strike rate of 82.40. He decorated his innings with 39 boundaries and six sixes. Sehwag was eventually dismissed by Mohammad Sami. Akhtar went wicketless in the match as India took a 1-0 lead by handing Pakistan an innings-and-52-run defeat. India won the series 2-1.Twenty-one years after that batting carnage by Sehwag, Akhtar expressed his frustration over the former Indian opener’s frequent references to that marvellous knock. The feud started when Sehwag shared a clip from a commercial with actress Mandira Bedi and Sahiba Bali on Instagram, captioning it: "Ek triple centurion ke handle se @fwd ka ad post ho raha hai."Responding to the post, Akhtar, in an Instagram video, expressed his annoyance over Sehwag’s reference to the knock.“I saw a video of Viru Paaji. Man, I am fed up of hearing him talk. It is the same tape he has been playing for the last 20 years - '300, 300, 300'. Come on, brother, I was there too when you scored that 300. You played really well, no doubt. But it is the month of fasting, and one has to control their tongue - so please, stop now. If you want an entry in the Guinness World Records, I can get that done: 'The person who says 300 the most in the world - Virender Sehwag!’”
