Mitchell Owen swings hard across the line but misses completely, and there’s an instant appeal from Bumrah and Samson. The umpire stays silent at first — and then up goes the finger! Bumrah’s conviction said it all. Owen isn’t convinced and goes upstairs for the review, but the replay seals his fate. UltraEdge shows a clear spike as the ball brushes the bat. Bumrah strikes again, and India get the breakthrough they were waiting for.

Jasprit Bumrah returns to the attack, looking to tighten the screws. He starts with a probing delivery on middle that Stoinis defends solidly. The next one is short and wide, and Stoinis helps himself to a single behind square. Mitchell Owen then pushes one down the ground for a couple, keeping Australia’s chase ticking. Tilak Varma, meanwhile, is back under the helmet at short leg — a clear sign that India are ready to attack, hoping Bumrah can find that spark again.

Kuldeep Yadav keeps things tight early in the over, with Marcus Stoinis working him around for a couple of runs and a single through the leg side. But just as it looked like a quiet finish, Mitchell Owen changes the script. Kuldeep tosses one up, and Owen pounces — a clean swing sends it soaring over deep mid-wicket for a huge six. Kuldeep takes a moment to wipe the ball with a rag, but that shot will sting a bit. Australia continue to keep the scoreboard moving despite India’s breakthroughs.

Live score: Australia (121/4 in 11 ov), chasing 126 vs India (125 all-out) in Melbourne. Mitchell Owen (12*), Marcus Stoinis (3*)

Kuldeep Yadav works his magic again, trapping Josh Inglis right in front after a brave Indian review. The batter looked confident it had pitched outside leg, but replays told a different story — it pitched in line, skidded through, and smashed leg stump. Three reds on the screen, and Inglis has to walk back for 20 off 20. Relief and delight in the Indian camp as Kuldeep delivers just when they needed it.

Earlier in the over, Inglis had managed a delicate paddle for two and nearly got into trouble with a missed reverse sweep that India chose not to review. But third time lucky for the hosts — Kuldeep gets his man and swings the momentum firmly back in India’s favour.

Varun Chakaravarthy continues to test the batters. He starts with a sharp googly that bounces extra, beating Mitchell Owen’s cut and just sailing over the stumps. Samson gathers quickly, but Owen stays put. The next delivery angles back in, striking Owen high on the thigh pad. Samson is convinced and urges Suryakumar Yadav to review. The replays, though, show it clearly missing the stumps — too high. India lose a review, but Varun’s control and bounce are keeping the Aussies on their toes.

Live score: Australia (110/3 in 11 ov), chasing 126 vs India (125 all-out) in Melbourne. Josh Inglis (18*), Mitchell Owen (6*)

Kuldeep tosses it up on middle, and Josh Inglis finally connects sweetly with a neat reverse sweep, threading it through backward point for a vital boundary. The pressure eases momentarily, but the next few deliveries bring chaos. Tilak Varma once again moves in at short leg as Mitchell Owen swings hard with a slog sweep — it just drops short of the fielder. He tries again, mistimes it badly, and skies it high. Harshit Rana rushes in, gets under it, but spills the catch. A real let-off for Australia, and a tough moment for the young quick as the pressure builds once more.

Live score: Australia (104/3 in 10 ov), chasing 126 vs India (125 all-out) in Melbourne. Josh Inglis (14*), Mitchell Owen (5*)

An interesting passage of play here as India tries to turn the screws. Varun Chakaravarthy continues his spell, but there’s a brief pause. Tilak Varma, stationed at short-leg, asks for a helmet before Tim David takes strike. The move sparks a few smiles, especially from Suryakumar Yadav, as Tilak exchanges a few cheeky words with David. The tension builds, David resets, and even Varun takes a moment to compose himself.

When play resumes, David gets off the mark with a single, followed by Inglis doing the same. But the drama isn’t done. David, looking to assert himself, taps one straight back, and Varun snaffles it cleanly. That’s the end of Tim David, undone by a clever setup and perhaps a touch of overthinking. The mind games, it seems, worked perfectly in India’s favour.

Live score: Australia (90/3 in 8.4 ov), chasing 126 vs India (125 all-out) in Melbourne. Josh Inglis (4*), Mitchell Owen (0*)

What an over that was — absolute chaos and class rolled into one. Mitchell Marsh was in beast mode, treating Kuldeep Yadav with disdain through the first five balls. It began with a dragged-down delivery that Marsh pulled over mid-wicket for four, followed by a monstrous flat six that barely had any elevation but cleared the ropes with ease. He wasn’t done — another boundary through mid-wicket and a towering straight hit made it look like he was batting on a different pitch altogether.

But cricket always finds a way to turn. On the very next ball, Marsh went for one big shot too many, aiming to clear long-off again. This time, Abhishek Sharma makes no mistake and perfectly and holds on perfectly under pressure. Kuldeep finally gets his man after an onslaught that had the Indian camp on edge. A brief chat between Suryakumar Yadav and Kuldeep after the wicket says it all — relief mixed with a touch of admiration for Marsh’s breathtaking 46 off 26.

Live score: Australia (87/2 in 8 ov), chasing 126 vs India (125 all-out) in Melbourne. Josh Inglis (4*), Tim David (0*)

Varun Chakaravarthy back into the attack, but Mitchell Marsh is showing no mercy. The Aussie skipper takes charge of the over, mixing power with precision. He starts by finding the gaps for a couple of twos before unleashing a massive blow straight down the ground — a clean strike that sails into the sightscreen. Marsh looks in complete control, reading Chakaravarthy’s variations with ease. Inglis, on the other hand, is still searching for rhythm, unable to pierce the field. Australia continue to cruise, and India are in desperate need of something special to break this stand.

Live score: Australia (67/1 in 7 ov), chasing 126 vs India (125 all-out) in Melbourne. Mitch Marsh (26*), Josh Inglis (3*)

Jasprit Bumrah returns for the third over of his spell, and suddenly the Australian charge seems to have eased off. Smart batting from the visitors, but not quite what India would’ve hoped for. The longer the wait for a breakthrough, the trickier it gets. And just as that thought settles in, Josh Inglis tries to improvise — attempts a flick over fine leg but mistimes it completely. It even had shades of Suryakumar Yadav’s scoop shot. Inglis just can’t find the timing today, tries the ramp again off the final ball, and misses once more.

Live score: Australia (56/1 in 6 ov), chasing 126 vs India (125 all-out) in Melbourne. Mitch Marsh (15*), Josh Inglis (3*)

Finally, an attacking bowling change for India as Varun Chakaravarthy comes into the attack. He strikes almost immediately! Travis Head tries to go big down the ground, but Tilak Varma pulls off a stunning catch right at the long-off boundary. Suryakumar Yadav will be proud of that effort. A huge breakthrough for India just when they needed it.

A bit of a mix-up behind the stumps there. Varun Chakaravarthy darts one down the leg side, Inglis tries to glance it fine but makes no contact. The ball clips his thigh pad and sneaks past as Samson dives but can’t gather cleanly. Some action, but nothing to worry about for either side.

Live score: Australia (51/1 in 5 ov), chasing 126 vs India (125 all-out) in Melbourne. Travis Head (0*), Mitch Marsh (13*)

Free hit, and Marsh makes it count! Harshit Rana’s over has started in the worst possible way. A no-ball to begin with, followed by a length delivery that Mitchell Marsh absolutely smokes. He rocks back, pulls it cleanly, and sends it soaring over square leg for six. That was brutal. Marsh isn’t here to mess around. Serious questions need to be asked if Harshit Rana continues to bowl in the power play.

Live score: Australia (49/0 in 4 ov), chasing 126 vs India (125 all-out) in Melbourne. Travis Head (2*), Mitch Marsh (27*)

SIX, FOUR: Travis Head finally breaks the shackles with the first six of the innings — and follows it up with a boundary in the same over! A length ball drifting onto his pads, and Head whips it with that trademark flick of the wrists. It just clears the cushions at deep backward square leg — not the cleanest strike, but enough to clear the long boundary and get Australia going. A couple of balls later, Harshit Rana angles one across, Head throws his hands at it, and a thick outside edge flies past a diving wide slip for four more.

A mixed bag from Bumrah in that over — brilliance and frustration in equal measure. He first produced a peach that jagged back sharply off the seam, beating everyone, including Mitchell Marsh, and flying over off stump for four byes despite Samson’s desperate dive. But the follow-up was completely off radar — a wild delivery down leg that kept drifting away to gift Australia five wides. Eleven runs in two balls, and Bumrah can only shake his head in disbelief.

Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head are far too smart to take unnecessary risks against Jasprit Bumrah early on. With the pitch offering unpredictable bounce, even reading him has become a challenge.

But India desperately need wickets, and plenty of them, inside the powerplay to have any real chance of putting Australia under pressure at this stage.

Live score: Australia (4/0 in 1 ov), chasing 126 vs India (125 all-out) in Melbourne. Travis Head (1*), Mitch Marsh (3*)

A horrible mix-up brings India’s innings to an abrupt end at 125. A full delivery outside off, pushed gently to the right of the bowler, and Bumrah instinctively sets off for a run. But Chakravarthy hesitates, unsure of the call, leaving both batters stranded mid-pitch. Ellis calmly collects the ball, strolls to the stumps, and removes the bails with Bumrah still halfway down. A tame and chaotic finish to what’s been a forgettable batting performance from India.
