Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka seemed to be in a good mood after his team got the better of Mumbai Indians in an IPL 2025 contest held on Friday night. LSG first racked up a mammoth 203/8 before limiting MI to 191/5 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

A clip of Goenka having a conversation with his captain Rishabh Pant and MI batting superstar Rohit Sharma is being shared on social media.

Notably, Rohit missed the contest due to an injury. As per MI, the former captain was hit on his knee during training which ruled him out of the clash.

The victory was LSG’s second in four games and it lifted them to the sixth spot on the IPL 2025 points table. However, MI succumbed to their third defeat in four attempts and are currently seventh in the standings.

LSG though will be concerned about the form of Pant with the bat after yet another failure. So far, the wicketkeeper-batter has mustered 19 runs from four matches including a best of 15 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Pant was signed by LSG for Rs 27 crore – an IPL record – at the mega auction in 2024 with hopes of him turning around the franchise’s fortunes after a forgettable last season.

LSG also seem to be happy with the pitch now after their mentor Zaheer Khan had raised questions over it not being suited to their strength.

“One thing is sure is that the wicket is playing really well, and we need to figure out what’s working for us and what is not," Pant said after the match. “Before we wanted a different kind of wicket, but whatever was offered to us we will take it and play."

LSG will next face Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Tuesday (April 8).
