Tennis star is 'harassed by a man yelling remarks about her MOTHER' during training session... just weeks after Emma Raducanu's Dubai stalker nightmare

Iga Swiatek has called in extra security after being harassed by a fan - who shouted remarks about her mother - while training at the Miami Open.

Swiatek is gearing up for a quarter-final clash against Alexandra Eala on Wednesday evening, after beating Elina Svitolina 7-6, 6-3 in her Round of 16 tie.

However, her preparations for the match were disrupted by a 40-year-old man who launched 'primitive' and 'vulgar' comments at the 23-year-old.

According to media outlet Super Express Sport, the man in question is known as Swiatek's 'biggest troll' and has a history of provoking the Polish star.

In a video that surfaced online, the man could be heard saying: 'Hey Iga, call your mother. Iga, when are you going to make up with your mother?'

He could then be heard shouting remarks about her psychologist, Daria Abramowicz. He said: 'Daria runs with water, like a trained dog.'

In response to the incident, Swiatek's PR manager said: 'We monitor the network for these types of cases. Constructive criticism is one thing, threats, hate speech, or even team disruption are another: this cannot be allowed.

'We reported the matter to the tournament organizer as well as the WTA, who responded immediately and took additional precautions, such as increased security, for which we are very grateful.

'Ensuring the safety of the athletes is the most important thing; they are at the center of the action, and our job is simply to protect them.'

Footage of the incident appeared early on Sunday, just hours before her match against Elise Mertens in the Round of 32 - which she won 7-6, 6-1.

During the match, a security guard was positioned behind the Polish player's box, who was also accompanied by an additional person when she gave an interview on the court.

The incident comes weeks after Emma Raducanu was troubled by a stalker in the crowd for her match in Dubai just two weeks ago.

Raducanu had been left in tears after spotting the man, before being able to continue on her match at the Dubai Tennis Championships.

The 2021 US Open champion was ultimately beaten 7-6, 6-4 by the Czech Republic's Karolina Muchova at the tournament.

Raducanu had opened up on the ordeal of seeing the stalker, who had 'exhibited fixated behaviour' towards her, prior to competing at Indian Wells

‘I was distraught. I was thinking, I don't know how I'm going to finish. I literally couldn't see the ball through the tears,' Raducanu said earlier this month.

‘I could barely breathe. I was playing Karolina, who's top 17 in the world, and I can't see the ball. And I'm like, I need to take a breather here. The first four games ran away from me because I was just not on the court. It was a pretty good effort for me to carry on playing.

‘After the match, I completely broke down in tears. There was just so much emotion. I needed a week off to take a breather. I feel a lot better.’

Raducanu had thanked fans for their support following the incident on Instagram.
