T20 World Cup: Afghanistan's performance analyst suffers heart attack, hospitalised

MUMBAI: Having suffered back-to-back defeats in their first two matches in the ongoing 2026 T20 World Cup, Afghanistan faced another setback when their team's performance analyst KC Ramasubramanian suffered a minor heart attack and was hospitalised in New Delhi on Thursday. "Yes, the Afghanistan team's performance analyst experienced chest pain yesterday. He had suffered a mild heart attack and was taken to the Fortis hospital. He was given angioplasty and is out of danger and doing better now," a source tracking developments said.

Afghanistan are in the capital for their next match in Group D, against UAE, on Monday. The Rashid Khan-captained team lost its opening match of the tournament by five wickets to New Zealand in Chennai, failing to defend 182. On Wednesday, the team lost a thriller, which involved two Super Overs, against South Africa, after both teams scored 187 in 20 overs, leaving the game tied at that stage. A popular man with the Afghan players, RamaSubramanian is based out of Chennai.
