Victoria Mboko is off to a perfect start at the 2026 Australian Open, progressing through to the second round following a straight-set victory on Monday (19 January).The young Canadian came up against Australian teenager Emerson Jones in the first round, registering a win in the first tennis major of the year (6-4, 6-1).Despite the best efforts of homegrown Jones, it was a masterclass from Mboko on the court.Fresh from a finale appearance at the Adelaide International, her performance at the 1573 arena was a demonstration of her up-and-coming status in this sport as she begins to look ahead to the next round where she will face Caty McNally.More to follow...
