DC vs GT Match Prediction & Analysis

Match 14 of the Indian Premier League 2026 sees Delhi Capitals take on Gujarat Titans in Delhi. The Capitals have begun well and sit second on the table after back-to-back wins. On the other hand, the Titans are down in eighth place after losing their opening two matches and are in need of a result here to turn things around.

Gujarat had beaten Delhi in both their meetings in 2025, which should give them some belief going into this game. That said, Delhi look better this season, and playing in familiar conditions could give them a clear advantage in this contest.

TEAMS PREVIEW

Delhi Capitals Preview

Delhi Capitals have started the season exactly how they would have wanted, winning their first two matches to move to third on the points table. After beating Lucknow in their opener, they followed it up with a six-wicket win over Mumbai Indians at home, where they limited them to 162 for 6. The Capitals have done most things right so far and look well placed to keep this run going.

Sameer Rizvi has been the standout batter this season, scoring back-to-back fifties and guiding the side home in both matches. He has not been dismissed so far and has piled up 160 runs, including an unbeaten 90 from 51 balls against Mumbai in the last game.

Pathum Nissanka also made a useful contribution in that match, scoring 44 off 30. His presence at the top has given the side more stability and balance in the early overs.

One area of concern is KL Rahul’s form, as he has not managed to get going in either match so far. That said, Rahul is an experienced player who scored 539 runs last season at an average of 54. He is due for a score in the 30 to 40 range in this match.

With Nitish Rana, Tristan Stubbs, and David Miller in the line-up as well, the Capitals have enough depth to recover from any early trouble in the innings.

On the bowling side, fast bowlers T Natarajan, Lungi Ngidi, and Mukesh Kumar have done well, sharing 10 wickets between them while keeping the economy under eight per over. Captain Axar Patel has also been effective, picking up two wickets and conceding at just 5.57 an over. Kuldeep Yadav adds another option in the middle overs and can pick wickets at important moments.

Delhi Capitals Predicted Playing XI:

KL Rahul(w), Pathum Nissanka, Nitish Rana, Axar Patel(c), Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Vipraj Nigam, Lungi Ngidi, Kuldeep Yadav, T Natarajan, Mukesh Kumar Impact subs: Sameer Rizvi, Ashutosh Sharma

Gujarat Titans Preview

Gujarat Titans have now followed their opening loss to Punjab Kings with another close defeat, going down by six runs to Rajasthan Royals at home while chasing 211, finishing on 204 for 8. They have shown patches of resistance in both games, but have not come together as a unit so far.

The Titans rely heavily on their top order, with Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler expected to handle most of the scoring. All three need to deliver if Gujarat are to post a strong total. Gill missed the last match due to back spasms, but should return here, which will lift the side, given his role as captain and main batter. Sudharsan led the scoring in the previous game with 73 off 44 and looks in good touch again, especially against Delhi Capitals, where he averages 94 from five games, including a top score of 108 not out.

Buttler has struggled for runs in recent matches, and the middle order looks light with Washington Sundar, Glenn Phillips, and Shahrukh Khan. Phillips appears the most suited to take control in that phase, having hit 34 fours and 18 sixes in T20s this year.

The bowling unit has been more reliable, with Prasidh Krishna standing out with four wickets from two matches while going at nine an over. He should come into play after the tenth over for at least two overs to break partnerships in the middle phase. Ashok Sharma is another player to watch, as his pace can cross 150 and trouble Delhi’s batters.

Spin options Washington Sundar and Rashid Khan add balance, alongside experienced pacers Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj. Rabada’s battle with KL Rahul will be interesting, as the batter has managed 93 runs in 12 matches against him, while being dismissed three times.

Gujarat Titans Predicted Playing XI:

Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill(c)/Kumar Kushagra, Jos Buttler(w), Washington Sundar, Glenn Phillips, M Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Ashok Sharma, Mohammed Siraj Impact subs: Prasidh Krishna, Praveen Dubey

PITCH AND WEATHER CONDITIONS

Weather Conditions

Hot and dry conditions are expected in Delhi, with temperatures during the evening likely to hover in the high-20s to low-30s°C range, offering little respite from the daytime heat. Skies should remain mostly clear with minimal chances of rain, while low humidity and a light breeze could prevail. Overall, it should be a warm evening, unlikely to have any significant impact on play.

DC vs GT Pitch Report

The average first innings total at the Arun Jaitley Stadium during IPL 2025 was around 203. But in the first match this season, the pitch played slow and had uneven pace, where Mumbai just about crossed 160. If the surface behaves similarly again, spinners are expected to have a big say, while fast bowlers will need to rely on slower balls and cutters to control the scoring. In general conditions, though, this ground is good for batting and tends to get better under lights. Dew usually makes chasing easier later in the game.

If Delhi Capitals bat first, they could aim for a total in the 180 to 200 range. Gujarat, with their top order, might push beyond 190 on a good day, but if things do not go well early, they may have to settle near 170.
