Saskatchewan Huskies quarterback Anton Amundrud has been diagnosed with Lymphoma, the team announced on Wednesday, and will be immediately turning his focus to his health. The school indicated that he and his family are requesting privacy as he begins treatment.

“It’s been a tough couple of days here around Huskie Football with the news about Anton,” said head coach Scott Flory in a statement. “He is a remarkable young man, on and off the field, and we know he will fight this disease with everything he’s got. We know we have an important game to play Saturday, but our players are processing the news as we focus on Anton’s well-being.”

“We also know Anton wants nothing more than to be fighting with us on the field. We understand that and we will be ready, focused, energized, and prepared to play Huskie football. Anton has the full love and support of our entire football family.”

The fourth-year passer started Saskatchewan’s first five regular-games this year, throwing for 1,604 yards, 14 touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He was named a Canada West all-star despite missing the last three games of the regular-season.

The six-foot-three, 210-pound native of Lloydminster, Alta. ranks third in program history in career completions (558), fifth in touchdown passes (42), and sixth in passing yards (6,945).
