Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen believes Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain has the ability to break Shoaib Akhtar’s record for the fastest ball ever bowled at 161.3 kph (100.2 mph).

Akhtar’s record has remained intact to this day, but Tareen feels Hasnain is capable of bowling faster than the Rawalpindi Express, especially since he was previously clocked at 155.1 kph.

“If anyone can break the record of Shoaib Akhtar’s fastest ball, it would be (Mohammad) Hasnain,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Hasnain didn’t feature in Pakistan’s limited overs tour of New Zealand, where they lost the T20I series 4-1 and the ODIs 3-0.

However, the 25-year-old did take part in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and claimed three wickets in five matches for the Sultans at an average of 52 and an economy rate of 9.75.

After PSL 10, Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Hasnain was not picked in the team.

The men in green won the series 3-0.
