Declan Rice completely disagrees after hearing what Wayne Rooney said about Arsenal recently

Declan Rice will be key for Arsenal in their second leg against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

The Gunners suffered a 1-0 defeat to Luis Enrique’s side at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg, and they have some work to do now if they want to make it into the final.

Arsenal came under a fair bit of criticism following their defeat at home to PSG. It wasn’t a terrible performance by any means, but some of the narrative from pundits has made it look that way.

Wayne Rooney was one who made an interesting claim after the game, but Rice doesn’t agree with him at all.

PSG arguably deserved their win against Arsenal in the first leg.

The Parisiens took a very early lead and completely dominated the Gunners in the first 20 minutes. Nobody had done that to Mikel Arteta’s side over the last three years.

However, after the early onslaught, Arsenal got better and better and had a few big chances of their own to win the game.

After the clash, Rooney decided to have a go at the Gunners and accused them of having a ‘psychological fear of not getting over the line’.

Declan Rice was asked about this in his press conference on Tuesday night, and the Arsenal star was adamant that there’s no fear whatsoever.

He said, as relayed on HaytersTV: “Our second group game in the Champions League, we beat them 2-0. It was the same team, other than Dembele and Kvaratskhelia. Everyone else started, and we beat them.

“So there’s no fear!

“I think the goal inside three minutes probably shocked us a little bit, shocked the atmosphere a little bit. But once we found a foothold in the game again, we started creating chances. The goalkeeper made some amazing saves.

“We fully believed that we could beat them. Obviously, it wasn’t meant to be, but we’ve seen enough and we know enough as a team that we can do something really, really good.”

Wayne Rooney is so wrong

Rooney is one of the biggest names in football.

The Manchester United legend won it all back in the day, but his assessment about Arsenal having ‘fear’ is absolutely ridiculous.

A team with fear does not destroy Real Madrid 5-1 over two legs, and if the Gunners really had that mental block, they would’ve lost the game against PSG by a much bigger margin.

Arsenal are still very much in the tie, and the best way for Rice and everyone else to prove Rooney wrong would be to get past PSG and then beat Inter Milan in the final to win the Champions League.

This Arsenal side is definitely capable of doing that.
