Ex-captain Rashid Latif laid out the difference in India's winning DNA against Pakistan's losing DNA.

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif spelt out the difference between his country’s cricket team and India.

Speaking to reporters at an event, Rashid Latif said the difference is in the ‘DNA’ – India’s is winning, and Pakistan’s is losing.

“Even after losing the toss, they made 250 runs. Nobody will be able to catch them. They have not done this overnight; it is the result of their hard work over the last 10 years or so. See the last ICC events or the Asia Cup," Rashid Latif told reporters.

“India’s DNA is to win trophies, and our DNA is to lose even before the knockouts. Their DNA is playing the final and winning," he added.

India outclassed Pakistan in their group stage meeting in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 by 61 runs.

Various media reports suggest that the PCB may impose a fine of PKR 50 lakh on each player who fails to meet expectations.

Reacting to the report, Rashid Latif said, “Weaker boards do this. When you sign a contract, it has everything. Fines and rewards are also mentioned."

Earlier, Rashid Latif had remarked that India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 victory was not surprising, given their players are now used to performing under pressure. He stated, “When you regularly reach finals of big events players also get accustomed to winning."

Latif further noted that the continuity and stability within the Indian cricket team have been crucial to their success, in contrast to Pakistan, where frequent changes and impatience have led to numerous problems.

Pakistan Greats Laud India

Former Test captain and batting legend Javed Miandad praised India’s cricket team for benefiting from a strong, process-driven structure. Miandad highlighted the impressive talent emerging from India’s robust system, noting they have no shortage of batters, spinners, or fast bowlers. He emphasised that their young players are result-oriented and possess good game awareness.

Miandad also observed that a winning culture and mentality in the team’s dressing room contribute to their success, citing India’s Champions Trophy win last year as an example. He reminisced about a similar environment in Pakistan’s dressing room during his playing days, which led to frequent victories.

Former Test batsman and chief selector Muhammad Wasim, previously the head coach of the Pakistan women’s team, stressed the need for Pakistan to acknowledge India’s superiority as a team. Wasim pointed out that instead of looking for faults or conspiracy theories when losing to India or when India excels in major events, Pakistan should accept India’s status as a top team and focus on improving by learning from their own mistakes.
