Salman Ali Agha Penalised by ICC for Code Breach

Pakistan all-rounder Salman Ali Agha has been officially reprimanded by the International Cricket Council for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the second one-day international against Bangladesh national cricket team in Dhaka.

According to the ICC, the incident fell under Article 2.2 of the code, which relates to the abuse of cricket equipment or ground fixtures during an international match. As part of the sanction, one demerit point has been added to Agha’s disciplinary record. It marks his first offence within the past 24 months.

The incident occurred in the 39th over of Pakistan’s innings when Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz bowled a delivery that Mohammad Rizwan played back towards the pitch. The ball spun toward the non-striker’s end where Agha was positioned.

After initially attempting to avoid the ball, Agha bent down to return it to Miraz. The Bangladesh skipper quickly collected the ball and removed the bails, running Agha out at the non-striker’s end.

The dismissal appeared to frustrate the Pakistan T20I captain, who reacted by throwing his gloves and helmet to the ground while walking back to the pavilion.

Match officials — including on-field umpires Adrian Holdstock and Tanvir Ahmed, third umpire Kumar Dharmasena and fourth umpire Masudur Rahman Mukul — upheld the charge.

Agha admitted the offence and accepted the penalty, meaning a formal disciplinary hearing was not required.

Under ICC regulations, a Level 1 offence can result in an official reprimand, a fine of up to 50 percent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
