Man Utd are trying to sign Bryan Mbeumo

Manchester United are poised to table an enhanced offer of £60million for Brentford's forward Bryan Mbeumo, which is likely to be their final bid. The Red Devils' initial proposal of £55m - £45m plus £10m in add-ons – was turned down by Brentford, but they're ready to challenge the Bees' determination to retain Mbeumo with a renewed bid of £55m, along with £5m in bonuses. Brentford's price tag for Mbeumo begins at £60m, however, United are optimistic that their augmented offer matching this figure will be accepted by the west London outfit, enabling them to secure the 25-year-old's signature. The only hurdle is the transfer fee for Cameroon international Mbeumo, who would be United's second summer signing, following the £62.5m acquisition of Matheus Cunha from Wolves. United manager Ruben Amorim is keen to bolster his attacking line-up, after his team netted a mere 44 goals in the Premier League last season – the second lowest tally of a non-relegated side. Last season, Mbeumo notched up 20 goals for Brentford and provided eight assists, and his arrival – following Cunha – would significantly enhance United's lacklustre attack.

United missed out on a Champions League spot for the upcoming season – and potentially up to £100million in additional revenue - after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final in Bilbao. Despite the lack of European football next season, players like Cunha and Mbeumo are still keen to join United, with a deal for the latter expected to be finalised soon.
