The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is taking another strategic step forward as preparations intensify for the eleventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). In a move aimed at enhancing the quality and structure of the player draft, the board has announced the creation of a new position: Player Acquisition Consultant.

According to journalist Sohail Imran, the PSL has officially opened applications for the role, which is designed to strengthen the league’s recruitment process and streamline operations ahead of the upcoming season. As per the PCB’s announcement, the consultant will be responsible for overseeing player acquisitions, draft planning, and talent scouting—areas that are critical to maintaining competitive balance across franchises.

This initiative comes as the PSL enters a new phase, with the league undergoing a comprehensive internal overhaul in preparation for its next decade.

Applications for the position remain open until November 15. Eligible candidates must possess a minimum of five years’ experience within a recognized sports organization, along with a relevant university degree. The appointed consultant will work closely with PSL management, franchise owners, and high-performance departments to ensure transparency and efficiency throughout the draft process.

With PSL 11 expected to once again compete for attention alongside the Indian Premier League, the PCB is seeking every possible advantage in identifying and securing top-tier talent.

In recent seasons, the PSL has faced challenges related to player availability, workload management, and scheduling conflicts with international commitments. The introduction of this role is intended to address those concerns, creating a more consistent talent pipeline and a structured recruitment framework for the future.

Widely recognized as one of the leading T20 leagues globally, the PSL has played a pivotal role in launching the careers of players such as Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan, and Saim Ayub—each of whom has made a successful transition to international cricket. By refining its player acquisition strategy, the league aims to continue nurturing the next generation of Pakistani stars.

With more news about the PSL draft expected soon, the consultant’s appointment is anticipated well in advance of franchise preparations.
