Matheus Cunha is officially a Manchester United player and has now spoken for the first time since his arrival was confirmed.

Ineos are off the mark this summer, with the £62.5m signing of Wolves’ star player.

Matheus Cunha spoke glowingly about Manchester United after his arrival was confirmed on Thursday, as the pictures released by the club tell the entire story that he is delighted to be at the club.

On his Instagram story, Cunha labelled the move to United as a ‘dream’ as he got the move he always wanted.

Cunha to United seemed nailed on for months, after he was spotted in deep conversation with Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford in April, and now he has been back at Old Trafford for media duties, including his first interview.

Matheus Cunha lauds Bruno Fernandes

After the deal was announced on Thursday, United’s club media released Cunha’s first interview on Friday, in full, and there were plenty of notable lines from the Brazilian.

One question asked of Cunha was whether there were any United players in particular he was excited to play alongside, and his response was clear.

“Yeah, of course, I play with Casemiro for Brazil, I’m so grateful to play with him. He was the one who always helped me in the national team. I started young there, and he always had good words to push me forward, but now it is easier to be with him.”

Cunha then went on to discuss his new captain, Bruno Fernandes.

“We know that for every squad, Bruno is, I think, for everyone in the Premier League is a big example for how to use the shirt of a club, and you feel the passion inside of him, of course. They are two big examples, and when I am here, I always like watching United players.”

Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha will love playing together

If there is one United player who will be delighted to see Cunha at the Theatre of Dreams, it is Fernandes, with the Portuguese magnifico and his new teammate very much on the same wavelength in terms of brilliance on the pitch.

Fernandes and Cunha play football in a similar manner, with their qualities making them immediate leaders on the pitch, with effort levels and quality that others cannot help but look up to.

Often, Fernandes has been on his own at United in terms of being levels beyond his teammates in terms of quality and footballing IQ, but he now has a player who will be ahead of him on the same page.

We can imagine the pair will be close friends and also form an incredible partnership on the pitch. The Premier League should be very scared.
