The German transfer window is now officially open and Bayern Munich is about to get busy. They are actively working on a deal to bring in striker Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart, but they are still going to ensure they also bring in a winger to make up for missing out on Florian Wirtz, who wound up choosing to join Liverpool over Bayern. Leroy Sané is also now officially a Galatasaray player, so there is added impetus for Max Eberl, Christoph Freund, and the rest of Bayern’s front office to do what they can to bring in the right player before the transfer window closes at the end of next month.Bayern had previously shown interest in Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, but now they have also shown concrete interest in Colombian international Luis Díaz. The winger has been with Liverpool since joining from Porto back in the winter of 2022 when Jürgen Klopp was manager and his current contract with the Premier League champions runs through June 2027.Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (via @iMiaSanMia), and Bild (via @iMiaSanMia). have all recently confirmed that Bayern has legitimate interest in Díaz and that Eberl has initiated contact to begin talks over a possible transfer this summer.Details of financial figures over a proposed deal have been discussed already and Bild has reported that Bayern has already submitted an initial offer for Díaz, though it was not disclosed just how lucrative said offer was. Romano added that it was only a “general” approach made to the winger’s camp by Eberl and that Bayern really want to get an understanding of what the winger’s situation is at Liverpool. His contact is up in a year and half, Liverpool have just signed Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, and Arne Slot would have to figure out where Wirtz will fit in amongst the likes of Mohamed Salah, Gakpo, Diogo Jota, and Díaz if he doesn’t wind up leaving the club.Plettenberg has reported that Díaz would be open to leaving Merseyside if the right offer did come in for him. As per Transfermarkt, he is currently valuated at €70 million, but Slot and Liverpool have every reason to ask for more at the negotiating table should things progress. He has won the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup (twice), and Community Shield with Liverpool and has gotten to a Champions League final that Liverpool wound up losing to Real Madrid in Paris in 2022. He made an immediate impact when he joined from Porto and has gone on to tally 41 goals and 23 assists from a total of 148 appearances across all competitions — that’s worth its weight in gold.
