Both Manchester United and Arsenal were in the market for new centre-forwards in the summer transfer window and Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres was on both their radarsManchester United icon Teddy Sheringham has confessed that Arsenal appear to have made the shrewder decision by securing Viktor Gyokeres rather than Benjamin Sesko. During the summer transfer window, both clubs were hunting for fresh centre-forwards.Both Gyokeres and Sesko were strongly linked with United and Arsenal, with the Reds landing the latter after the Swede opted to join the Gunners. Gyokeres has netted six goals in 14 outings for Arsenal whilst Sesko has managed merely two strikes, though his playing time has been more limited.Speaking to Oddspedia, Sheringham believes that Mikel Arteta's side might have emerged victorious in the transfer battle. He said: "Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres were both up for transfers coming into the Premier League, and there was a question of 'who is going to end up with which striker?' I would say in this moment in time, Arsenal look like they've got the better centre-forward.READ MORE : Senne Lammens claims emphatically shot down as Man Utd put a stop to transfer 'chaos'READ MORE : Marcus Rashford set for transfer twist as Hansi Flick tells staff he’s quitting Barcelona"I'm not saying that it's going to be the end result, but I definitely think that Gyokeres has settled into Arsenal's way of playing easier than Sesko at United so far." Whilst Sheringham harbours concerns about Sesko's beginning at the club, this view isn't echoed by United's director of football Jason Wilcox.Speaking on the Inside Carrington podcast about United's new arrivals, Wilcox praised the Slovenian as something of an underrated gem for United. "The signings that we have made have contributed to making us better in the [attacking] area," he explained."Benji [Sesko] at the top end is going to be an amazing player. It is difficult to be the No.9 at Manchester United and I know sometimes Matheus [Cunha] and Bryan [Mbeumo] are getting a lot of credit, but the runs that Benji is making is also helping Matheus and Bryan as well."All of the four signings are doing really well."
